history

SUMMER 2000
AfterChain was born in a small loft in Detroit, MI as Aunia Kahn took pieces of magnetic poetry and placed them on a refrigerator door. Incorporating the core definition that a chain can be broken if only one link shatters, but new links being added offers a greater and higher endurance. A new form of expression for Aunia Kahn was born through sound. AfterChain has come to represent straight soul gripping music with a varying grasp of vocal assortments streaming from angelic harmonies to brash in-your-face choruses.

SUMMER 2002
Aunia Kahn and Russ Moon started Silencer Records to help move both of their musical creations into the hands of more seekers. The label grew, other artists signed on and both Aunia (AfterChain) & Russ’ (Forced Police Action) musical projects took the back seat. The label became allies with many other indie labels and artist and became too large for either Russ or Aunia to keep going while pursuing their own arts. The label was sold in 2004, and in a few months the walls finally collapsed without adequate backing.

FALL 2004
After two years as the Vice President, and A&R Rep of Silencer Records she decided to take a break from the music industry all together to focus on her visual artist career. Her first works were shared with the public in 2005 with 10 exhibitions that year to follow, and in 2006 she tripled her exhibition history. She is now an internationally known visual artist. Works of Aunia Kahn’s have been shown at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, San Diego Art Institute, Boardners of Hollywood, The Mitchell Museum and many other places. WINTER 2006
Aunia (AfterChain) is back to the studio working on her long awaited CD Single “Void”.Void will feature a remix from Razed in Black and 5 AfterChain songs to be released in 2007.

SUMMER 2007
Aunia Kahn has recently shot her music video for the song “You Broke It’, directed by Wolfgang Lehmkuhl, and it is slated to be ready for viewers in late June/July.

CONCLUSION
Since her inception Aunia of AfterChain has made her mark on the Industrial and Electronic scene being one of the few female solo projects in the genres; producing, writing, programming and developing every aspect of her project as only she can. Throughout Aunia's career she has consistently taken raw emotion, disturbing subject matter and wandering thoughts as building blocks for her unique sound. Without holding back, AfterChain's music has resulted in becoming some of the most intimate and energetic Industrial music available.
